The dropped MCD is by far the most-felt reduction, as it effectively drops the memory bandwidth by 25% while the total computational resources are reduced by a much less significant 10%. Though all of these resources are present on the Radeon RX 7700 XT, you'll find fewer of each here than on the RX 7800 XT.Įven with these changes, the Radeon RX 7700 XT remains pretty similar to the RX 7800 XT, which also uses the Navi 32 die but without any resources disabled. This is a chiplet design that includes a Graphics Chip Die (GCD) with four smaller Memory Cache Dies (MCDs) set around it.
The Radeon RX 7700 XT is based on AMD’s Navi 32 GPU die but with some of the resources disabled. But the RX 7700 XT is no slouch in its own right, and sees AMD saving its best-value RX 7000-series cards for later in the family's life. Still, its big sibling steals its thunder: The $499 AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT does so much more for just $50 more, and holds a firm grip on an Editors' Choice award for 1440p play. Though the $449 MSRP on the RX 7700 XT is undercut by the $399 GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, it more than makes up for this extra cost in performance. AMD isn't hawking an AMD-branded reference version of this graphics card, but we put an XFX iteration of this GPU, the Speedster Qick 319 RX 7700 XT Black Edition that retails for $459, through its paces to see how the RX 7700 XT stacks up.
